Music Career
After being discovered by RunDMC and the late Jam Master Jay, Fredro Starr released six albums with Onyx, which included the cousin and fellow group member Sticky Fingaz. He also contributed to the Sunset Park, Light It Up, and Save the Last Dance movie soundtracks.
Onyx split with Def Jam Recordings after their 1998 release Shut 'Em Down, and temporarily broke up, during which time Starr released his first solo album, Firestarr, in 2001. Onyx reunited the next year and released Bacdafucup Part II, and Starr's next album, Don't Get Mad Get Money, arrived in 2003. He formed a new group called Yung Onyx in 2006. As of 2011, he and Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony are planning to release a joint EP entitled FireSquad, which is set to be released late 2011/ early 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words music and/or career:
“We often feel sad in the presence of music without words; and often more than that in the presence of music without music.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
“A black boxers career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.”
—Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
