Frank Bough - Early Life

Early Life

Bough was born in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, England. He was educated at Oswestry Boys' High School (a Shropshire County Council secular grammar school), Oswestry, Shropshire (not to be confused with the older independent Oswestry School), and at Merton College, Oxford, reputedly being one of the last generation of undergraduates to be awarded a fourth class degree. He played football for the university against Cambridge, and performed his national service in the Royal Tank Regiment.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:

    I have always had something to live besides a personal life. And I suspected very early that to live merely in an experience of, in an expression of, in a positive delight in the human cliches could be no business of mine.
    Margaret Anderson (1886–1973)

    Your faith an’ trouth yese never get
    Nor our trew Love shall never twain
    Till ye come within my bower
    And kiss me both cheek and chin.

    My mouth it is full cold, Margret,
    It has the smell now of the ground;
    An’ if I kiss thy com’ly mouth
    Thy life days will not be long.
    Unknown. Clerk Saunders (l. 109–116)
