Forest Green Rovers Ladies

Forest Green Rovers Ladies are members of the South West Combination Football League and were formed at the start of the 2002–03 season when they changed from their former Chalford Ladies title.

In their first season the team were South West Women's Football League champions and also picked up the Pat Sowden Trophy. And in the 2007–08 season they reached the fourth round of the FA Women's Cup but were eventually knocked out by Liverpool LFC. Similarly the following season they reached the fourth round again, this time being knocked out by Leeds Carnegie. In 2009 they became the Gloucestershire County Cup winners following a win over Cheltenham Town Ladies.

An agreement was struck ahead of the 2011–12 season for the Forest Green Ladies side to play home games at Wisloe Road, the home of nearby Slimbridge. This followed years spent playing in the mens first team stadium at The New Lawn and as part of the agreement Forest Green Rovers donated a set of dugouts to Slimbridge and visited the club for a pre season friendly in August 2011.

Famous quotes containing the words forest, green and/or ladies:

What is most striking in the Maine wilderness is the continuousness of the forest, with fewer open intervals or glades than you had imagined. Except the few burnt lands, the narrow intervals on the rivers, the bare tops of the high mountains, and the lakes and streams, the forest is uninterrupted.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Just across the Green from the post office is the county jail, seldom occupied except by some backwoodsman who has been intemperate; the courthouse is under the same roof. The dog warden usually basks in the sunlight near the harness store or the post office, his golden badge polished bright.
—Administration for the State of Con, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

The intent of matrimony, is not for man and wife to be always taken up with each other, but jointly to discharge the duties of civil society, to govern their family with prudence, and educate their children with discretion.
