In Popular Culture
As a consequence of its popularity from the 1996 discontinuation of the Chevrolet Caprice 9C1, the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor is one of the most common police vehicles depicted in contemporary North American films and television. The Crown Victoria is seen extensively in popular culture as the main police vehicle of the United States, but in following with real-life police departments, crime dramas (such as Hawaii Five-0) are now using replacements such as the Chevrolet Impala 9C1/9C3, Dodge Charger, and Ford Taurus Police Interceptor Sedan.

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:
“People try so hard to believe in leaders now, pitifully hard. But we no sooner get a popular reformer or politician or soldier or writer or philosophera Roosevelt, a Tolstoy, a Wood, a Shaw, a Nietzsche, than the cross-currents of criticism wash him away. My Lord, no man can stand prominence these days. Its the surest path to obscurity. People get sick of hearing the same name over and over.”
—F. Scott Fitzgerald (18961940)
“Our culture has become something that is completely and utterly in love with its parent. Its become a notion of boredom that is bought and sold, where nothing will happen except that people will become more and more terrified of tomorrow, because the new continues to look old, and the old will always look cute.”
—Malcolm McLaren (b. 1946)
