Campi and Other Installations

UFF is spread over the city of Niterói. There are three big campi in Niterói: Campus do Gragoatá, at São Domingos; Campus da Praia Vermelha, at Boa Viagem and Campus do Valonguinho, in the downtown area.

Campus do Gragoatá hosts History, Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, Language and Literature, Social Service, International Relations and Sport Science. Located at São Domingos, one of the oldest and best preserved neighboorhoods in town, the campus has contributed to a change in the area. Once strictly residential, the area has restaurants, bookstores and cultural areas.

Campus da Praia Vermelha houses the Engineering, Architecture, Physics, Geophysics, Geography and Computer Science courses. Some of the buildings in campus are historical and contrast with modern constructions in the area.

At Campus do Valonguinho, the closest to the ferryboat station that goes to Rio de Janeiro, the courses are Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Dentistry, Nutrition, Tourism, Business Administration, Accounting, Mathematics and Statistics.

Some schools and institutes are located outside campi, such as the Institute of Art and Social Communication, with the courses of Film and Video Studies, Marketing, Journalism, Library Studies, Media and Cultural Production; the School of Economics, the Law School, the Medical School, the Nursing School, the Biomedical Institute, the Veterinary School and the Pharmacy School and the Institute of Community Health at the University Hospital Antônio Pedro.

The Rectory Building, also an off-campus art déco preserved building, houses most of administrative facilities, including the International Office.

There are undergraduate and graduate programs offered in over 10 cities across Rio de Janeiro State. In the north, in the state of Pará, in the Amazon Forest, the Campus de Oriximiná offers service activities to the community and it is used as a medical research field for scholars and students.

There are 24 branch libraries at UFF. A summary of university libraries and resources and services may be found at www.ndc.uff.br.

UFF Art Center is a complex located at the Rectory Building that includes a theater, a movie theater and an art gallery. They all offer cultural activities, at a low cost, to the people of Niterói. Exhibits, shows, concerts, and plays provide interaction between the university and the local community. Information at www.uff.br/centroartes.
