Flood Control - Control of Floods

Control of Floods

Some methods of flood control have been practiced since ancient times. Other techniques include the construction of levees, lakes, dams, reservoirs or retention ponds to hold extra water during times of flooding.

Famous quotes containing the words control and/or floods:

I think it a much wiser thing to secure for the thousands of mothers in this State the legal control of the children they now have, than to bring others into the world who would not belong to me after they were born.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)

In early times, before the floods swept across the world, there was life, albeit odd, as one can see from the fossils of mammoth bones, and there was the regime of Prince Metternich.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
