Platforms and Services
The eastern end of Platform No. 1 is designated as Platform No. 14, located under the main concourse past the Platform 1 escalators. Platforms 12 and 13 are located under the main concourse at the eastern end of platforms 10 and 11. Platform 11 is currently not in use and is trackless. Platforms 15 and 16 were part of the former Princes Bridge Station on the northern side of Platform No. 14, and were both demolished during the construction of Federation Square.
Three concourses link the platforms. The main concourse is at the east end of the station, located off Swanston Street and the main dome, and has direct access to all platforms via escalators, stairs and lifts. The Degraves Street subway runs under the centre of the station, exiting to Flinders Street at the north end, with stairs directly connecting to all platforms except for platforms 12 and 13. The Elizabeth Street subway is at the west end, and has direct access via ramps to all platforms except for platforms 1, 12, 13 and 14.

- Hurstbridge line - Metro services to Heidelberg, Macleod, Greensborough, Eltham and Hurstbridge
Platforms 2 & 3:
- Lilydale line - Metro services to Blackburn, Ringwood, Mooroolbark and Lilydale
- Belgrave Line - Metro services to Upper Ferntree Gully and Belgrave
- Glen Waverley line - Metro services to Glen Waverley
- Alamein line - Metro services to Riversdale and Alamein
Platforms 4 & 5:
- Craigieburn line - Metro services to Broadmeadows and Craigieburn
- Upfield line - Metro services to Upfield
- Sunbury line - Metro services to St Albans, Watergardens and Sunbury
- Werribee line (see also platform 10) - Metro services to Werribee (Weekend timetable only)
Platforms 6 & 7:
- Pakenham line - Metro services to Oakleigh, Dandenong, Pakenham and Cranbourne
- Cranbourne line - Metro services to Oakleigh, Dandenong and Cranbourne
- Alamein line - Metro services to Ashburton and Alamein
- Lilydale line - Metro services to Blackburn
- Frankston line - Metro services to Moorabbin, Mordialloc and Frankston
Platforms 8 & 9:
- Frankston line - Metro services to Moorabbin, Mordialloc, Carrum and Frankston
- Sandringham line - Metro services to Sandringham (Weekend timetables only)
- Gippsland line - InterCity V/Line services from Southern Cross to Pakenham, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale (pick up only)
- Gippsland line - InterCity V/Line services to Southern Cross (set down only)
Platform 10:
- Williamstown line - Metro services to Williamstown
- Werribee line (see also platform 5) - Metro services to Laverton and Werribee (Weekday timetable only)
- Gippsland line - InterCity V/Line services from Southern Cross to Pakenham, Traralgon, Sale and Bairnsdale (pick up only)
- Gippsland line - InterCity V/Line services to Southern Cross (set down only)
Platform 11: Not in Use (no tracks)
