Education

There are three primary schools in the village, Juniper Hill, Carrington Junior School and Carrington Infant School. Flackwell Heath is also home to the Wycombe campus of Amersham & Wycombe College, based in Spring Lane in the buildings of the former secondary school. The village is also in the catchment area of several Grammar Schools, such as John Hampden Grammar School for boys and Wycombe High School for girls, which are both situated 3 miles from the centre of the village.

Famous quotes containing the word education:

Until we devise means of discovering workers who are temperamentally irked by monotony it will be well to take for granted that the majority of human beings cannot safely be regimented at work without relief in the form of education and recreation and pleasant surroundings.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

His education lay like a film of white oil on the black lake of his barbarian consciousness. For this reason, the things he said were hardly interesting at all. Only what he was.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

It’s fairly obvious that American education is a cultural flop. Americans are not a well-educated people culturally, and their vocational education often has to be learned all over again after they leave school and college. On the other hand, they have open quick minds and if their education has little sharp positive value, it has not the stultifying effects of a more rigid training.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)
