In this sense the abstract analysis of film is taught in any accredited university worldwide that offers film studies. Discourse in film can be found in the schools around the world, however very often international attention to the aesthetics of film emerge in film festivals. For example the Cannes Film Festival is the most prestigious in the world. Though this discourse revolves around the film industry and promotion and does not exist within an academic school setting, numerous aspects of analysis and critical approaches are taken into account on this international stage.

Famous quotes containing the words world, film and/or studies:
“For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life?”
—Bible: New Testament, Matthew 16:26.
“Lay not that flattering unction to your soul,
That not your trespass but my madness speaks;
It will but skin and film the ulcerous place,
Whilst rank corruption, mining all within,
Infects unseen.”

“The conduct of a man, who studies philosophy in this careless manner, is more truly sceptical than that of any one, who feeling in himself an inclination to it, is yet so over-whelmd with doubts and scruples, as totally to reject it. A true sceptic will be diffident of his philosophical doubts, as well as of his philosophical conviction; and will never refuse any innocent satisfaction, which offers itself, upon account of either of them.”
—David Hume (17111776)
