Fair Haven Beach State Park is located in upstate New York on the eastern portion of the Lake Ontario shoreline. It has one of the finest public lakefronts in upstate New York, with towering shoreline bluffs, sandy beaches and adjoining hilly woodlands. The park features 1500 feet of beautiful sand beach including 600 feet of guarded swim area. Inland, Sterling Pond and Creek are centrally located amongst the geological transition between woods and water.

Campgrounds and cabin areas are nestled within the gently rolling woodlands. Fishing and boating opportunities are plentiful in Lake Ontario and the adjoining Little Sodus Bay. Visitors here also enjoy swimming and diving boards, biking, hiking, picnicking, and camping. Winter snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and ice fishing are very popular. Park facilities include two sandy beaches separated by a diving channel with two boards. Boat rentals include row boats, paddle boats, canoes and kayaks which are only for use on the inland Sterling Pond waterway.

Three separate campgrounds and a 30-unit cabin colony each contain a centralized restroom with showers. Two additional cabins and three cottages make up the self contained units available for reservation. Campgrounds consist of 46 electric sites and 138 non-electric sites. A ball field, hiking trail, camp store, concession, 5 picnic areas, 2 family picnic tent rentals and 2 shelters (one heated) are also offered as an attraction to patrons. With fantastic scenic views and an 18-hole golf course this makes for a unique and accommodating destination.

Famous quotes containing the words fair, haven, beach, state and/or park:

If there be any man who thinks the ruin of a race of men a small matter, compared with the last decoration and completions of his own comfort,—who would not so much as part with his ice- cream, to save them from rapine and manacles, I think I must not hesitate to satisfy that man that also his cream and vanilla are safer and cheaper by placing the negro nation on a fair footing than by robbing them.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The dry eucalyptus seeks god in the rainy cloud.
Professor Eucalyptus of New Haven seeks him
In New Haven with an eye that does not look
    Beyond the object.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

The seashore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world. It is even a trivial place. The waves forever rolling to the land are too far-traveled and untamable to be familiar. Creeping along the endless beach amid the sun-squall and the foam, it occurs to us that we, too, are the product of sea-slime.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

In the most high and palmy state of Rome,
A little ere the mightiest Julius fell,
The graves stood tenantless and the sheeted dead
Did squeak and gibber in the Roman streets.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Therefore awake! make haste, I say,
    And let us, without staying,
All in our gowns of green so gay
    Into the Park a-maying!
    Unknown. Sister, Awake! (L. 9–12)
