Famous quotes containing the words social, credit and/or activist:
“Nearly all the Escapists in the long past have managed their own budget and their social relations so unsuccessfully that I wouldnt want them for my landlords, or my bankers, or my neighbors. They were valuable, like powerful stimulants, only when they were left out of the social and industrial routine.”
—Willa Cather (18761947)
“What are the characteristics of todays world so that one may recognize it by them? It pays pensions and borrows money: credit and monuments.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
“Adolescents have the right to be themselves. The fact that you were the belle of the ball, the captain of the lacrosse team, the president of your senior class, Phi Beta Kappa, or a political activist doesnt mean that your teenager will be or should be the same....Likewise, the fact that you were a wallflower, uncoordinated, and a C student shouldnt mean that you push your child to be everything you were not.”
—Laurence Steinberg (20th century)
