Exorcist II: The Heretic - Director's Recut

Director's Recut

Shortly after its premiere, John Boorman went back to re-cut the film in response to poor audience reactions, although this version fared no better. Boorman shortened and changed the order of certain scenes; deleted lines of dialogue; changed some musical cues; and added an introduction with narration by Richard Burton including an alternative ending in which Burton's character dies. The plot, though, is not significantly different between the two versions of the film. The original, completely uncut 118-minute release is available on DVD, while the 110-minute re-edit still exists only on VHS and 16MM prints.

Famous quotes containing the word director:

The director is simply the audience. So the terrible burden of the director is to take the place of that yawning vacuum, to be the audience and to select from what happens during the day which movement shall be a disaster and which a gala night. His job is to preside over accidents.
    Orson Welles (1915–1984)
