Everybody Loves Raymond - Foreign Adaptations

Foreign Adaptations

The original American version of the show has been dubbed then broadcast in Poland under the title Wszyscy kochają Romana (Everybody Loves Roman). It was picked up by TVN and premiered on September 2, 2011. However, due to low ratings (less than 2 million viewers a week), the station put the show on hiatus after four episodes.

Series creator Philip Rosenthal created the documentary Exporting Raymond, about his trip to Russia to serve as a consultant in an effort to adapt the format of the show for the Russian audience.

In the Middle East a sitcom called El Bab Fil Bab (الباب في الباب ), which means Close Doors in Arabic, is produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment, translating Everybody Loves Raymond with minor changes to adapt the Eastern Culture. The first season aired in the month of Ramadan 2011; second season in 2012.

A Dutch remake, called Iedereen is gek op Jack (Everybody likes Jack) premiered in 2011. The second season started airing in March 2012.

Famous quotes containing the word foreign:

And when discipline is concerned, the parent who has to make it to the end of an eighteen-hour day—who works at a job and then takes on a second shift with the kids every night—is much more likely to adopt the survivor’s motto: “If it works, I’ll use it.” From this perspective, dads who are even slightly less involved and emphasize firm limits or character- building might as well be talking a foreign language. They just don’t get it.
