Economic Impact

According to an independent socioeconomic study of EvCC alumni, EvCC students are measurably better off as a result of their education.

Students who leave with a two-year college degree earn, on average, twice as much as adults without a high school diploma and 35 percent more than those with a high school diploma or GED.

Eighty percent of EvCC students stay in the region to work after they leave college.

Famous quotes containing the words economic and/or impact:

... business training in early life should not be regarded solely as insurance against destitution in the case of an emergency. For from business experience women can gain, too, knowledge of the world and of human beings, which should be of immeasurable value to their marriage careers. Self-discipline, co-operation, adaptability, efficiency, economic management,—if she learns these in her business life she is liable for many less heartbreaks and disappointments in her married life.
    Hortense Odlum (1892–?)

Too many existing classrooms for young children have this overriding goal: To get the children ready for first grade. This goal is unworthy. It is hurtful. This goal has had the most distorting impact on five-year-olds. It causes kindergartens to be merely the handmaidens of first grade.... Kindergarten teachers cannot look at their own children and plan for their present needs as five-year-olds.
James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)
