Ethnic Japanese

Ethnic Japanese may mean:

  • Japanese people, when referring to people of Japanese descent
    • May also be used as a term to refer to the Yamato people as opposed to the minority peoples of Japan: the Ainu, Ryukyuans, Burakumin and immigrant groups such as the Han Chinese and Koreans.
  • Japanese diaspora, when referring to people of Japanese descent not living in Japan

Famous quotes containing the words ethnic and/or japanese:

Caprice, independence and rebellion, which are opposed to the social order, are essential to the good health of an ethnic group. We shall measure the good health of this group by the number of its delinquents. Nothing is more immobilizing than the spirit of deference.
    Jean Dubuffet (1901–1985)

    I am a lantern—
    My head a moon
Of Japanese paper, my gold beaten skin
    Infinitely delicate and infinitely expensive.
    Sylvia Plath (1932–1963)
