2009 APC Convention
On April 16, 2009, Koroma was re-elected unopposed by the APC as the party's presidential candidate in the 2012 Sierra Leone presidential election at the APC National Delegates convention held in the northern city of Makeni. Several senior members of the country's main opposition party the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) and the country's third major party the PMDC were invited as special guests at the convention to promote peace and National Reconciliation across the country, following the tense general elections in 2007.
