Energy Transfer

Energy transfer is the transfer of energy from one object or material to another.

There are a few main ways that energy transfer occurs:

  • Radiant energy (radiation)
  • Heat conduction (travelling heat)
  • Convection (currents of warm air)
  • Electrical power transmission
  • Mechanical work (machines)

Famous quotes containing the words energy and/or transfer:

Reckoned physiologically, everything ugly weakens and afflicts man. It recalls decay, danger, impotence; he actually suffers a loss of energy in its presence. The effect of the ugly can be measured with a dynamometer. Whenever man feels in any way depressed, he senses the proximity of something “ugly.” His feeling of power, his will to power, his courage, his pride—they decline with the ugly, they increase with the beautiful.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

If it had not been for storytelling, the black family would not have survived. It was the responsibility of the Uncle Remus types to transfer philosophies, attitudes, values, and advice, by way of storytelling using creatures in the woods as symbols.
    Jackie Torrence (b. 1944)
