Comparison With Free Software Licenses
A free software license grants users of that software the rights to modify and redistribute the creative works and software, both of which are forbidden by the defaults of copyright, and generally not granted with proprietary software. These licenses typically include a disclaimer of warranty. Copyleft also include a key addition provision, that must be accepted in order to copy or modify the software, that requires that user to provide source code for the work, and to distribute his or her modifications under the same license.

Famous quotes containing the words comparison with, comparison and/or free:
“In everyones youthful dreams, philosophy is still vaguely but inseparably, and with singular truth, associated with the East, nor do after years discover its local habitation in the Western world. In comparison with the philosophers of the East, we may say that modern Europe has yet given birth to none.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“[Girls] study under the paralyzing idea that their acquirements cannot be brought into practical use. They may subserve the purposes of promoting individual domestic pleasure and social enjoyment in conversation, but what are they in comparison with the grand stimulation of independence and self- reliance, of the capability of contributing to the comfort and happiness of those whom they love as their own souls?”
—Sarah M. Grimke (17921873)
“Punk to me was a form of free speech. It was a moment when suddenly all kinds of strange voices that no reasonable person could ever have expected to hear in public were being heard all over the place.”
—Greil Marcus (b. 1945)
