Electric Ladyland - Cover

Cover

Hendrix wrote to Reprise describing exactly what he wanted for the cover art, but was mostly ignored. He expressly asked for a color photo by Linda Eastman of the group sitting with children on a sculpture from Alice in Wonderland in Central Park, even drawing a picture of it for reference. The company instead used a blurred red and yellow photo of his head, taken by Karl Ferris. Track Records had its own art department, which produced a cover depicting 19 nude women lounging in front of a black background taken by photographer David Montgomery, who also shot the inside cover portrait of Hendrix.

Famous quotes containing the word cover:

    Laid out for death, let thy last kindness be
    With leaves and moss-work for to cover me:
    And while the wood-nymphs my cold corpse inter,
    Sing thou my dirge, sweet-warbling chorister!
    For epitaph, in foliage, next write this:
    Here, here the tomb of Robin Herrick is.
    Robert Herrick (1591–1674)

    See, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock; and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;
    then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”
    Bible: Hebrew, Exodus 33:21-23.

    Every man alone is sincere. At the entrance of a second person, hypocrisy begins. We parry and fend the approach of our fellow-man by compliments, by gossip, by amusements, by affairs. We cover up our thought from him under a hundred folds.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
