Elections in Senegal gives information on election and election results in Senegal.
Senegal elects on national level a head of state - the president - and a legislature. The president is elected for a seven-year term by the people (between 2001 and 2008, it was a five-year term; this was changed back to the pre-2001 seven-year term in 2008, though incumbent president Macky Sall has stated he wants to have it reverted to five-year terms). The National Assembly (Assemblée Nationale) has 150 members, elected for a five-year term, in multi-seat constituencies. Senegal has a multi-party system.
There are plans to extend presidential terms to seven years.

Famous quotes containing the word elections:
“In my public statements I have earnestly urged that there rested upon government many responsibilities which affect the moral and spiritual welfare of our people. The participation of women in elections has produced a keener realization of the importance of these questions and has contributed to higher national ideals. Moreover, it is through them that our national ideals are ingrained in our children.”
—Herbert Hoover (18741964)
