Current GDP per capita of Kyrgyzstan shrank by 54% in the Nineties. Mean wages were $0.85 per manhour in 2009. In the first half of 2012, Kyrgyz economy shrank by 5.8%. The downturn is mainly in the industry due to decline in gold production at the Kumtor mine.
The budget deficit in mid 2012 was 23-billion soms and accounted for 7% of GDP while the target was to reduce it to 6%.
