Early Tablet Computers
Early tablet computers included many of the features of personal computers. These devices ran adapted versions of Microsoft Windows or desktop Linux and were capable of running many of the same applications. Most featured pen-based input.
In 2001 Microsoft announced a set of specifications for the Tablet PC, which popularized that term.
Apple's introduction of the iPad in January 2010 signaled a transition from these earlier tablets.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or tablet:
“Early education can only promise to help make the third and fourth and fifth years of life good ones. It cannot insure without fail that any tomorrow will be successful. Nothing fixes a child for life, no matter what happens next. But exciting, pleasing early experiences are seldom sloughed off. They go with the child, on into first grade, on into the childs long life ahead.”
—James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)
“The eyes, opening and shutting like keyholes
and never forgetting, recording by thousands,
the skull with its brains like eels
the tablet of the world
the bones and their joints
that build and break for any trick....”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
