E (New York City Subway Service)
The E Eighth Avenue Local is a rapid transit service of the New York City Subway. It is colored vivid blue on route signs, station signs, and the official subway map, since it runs on the IND Eighth Avenue Line through Manhattan.
The E service operates at all times. The normal service pattern for the E is between Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer in Jamaica, Queens, and World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, running express on the IND Queens Boulevard Line in Queens and local in Manhattan.
During late nights, the E service runs local along its entire route. It also serves two local stops in eastern Queens (75th Avenue and Briarwood – Van Wyck Boulevard) on evenings and weekends. Limited rush hour service runs fully express to 179th Street at the end of the Queens Boulevard Line in Jamaica.
The E route has no elevated or ground-level stations, remaining fully underground during its entire run.
