Don Clarke - Cricket Career

Cricket Career

Clarke also played 27 first-class cricket matches, mostly for Auckland and Northern Districts, taking five or more wickets in an innings on four occasions. His best performance came for Northern Districts against Central Districts in January 1963, when he claimed 8/37 in the second innings. At the time, this was a record innings return for Northern Districts in first-class cricket, although it was beaten by Gren Alabaster's 8/30 just two months later.

Famous quotes containing the words cricket and/or career:

    All cries are thin and terse;
    The field has droned the summer’s final mass;
    A cricket like a dwindled hearse
    Crawls from the dry grass.
    Richard Wilbur (b. 1921)

    Like the old soldier of the ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty. Goodbye.
    Douglas MacArthur (1880–1964)
