A foundation honouring Mintoff was established barely 12 hours after his death. The Fundazzjoni Duminku Mintoff will be led by Professor Joseph Grech, with Mintoff's two daughters serving as its patrons. Its primary aim, a foundation spokesman said, will be to ensure Mintoff's claim to posterity. The idea of establishing a foundation in Mintoff's honour was first mooted during meetings of Front Maltin Inqumu, the anti-EU lobby group which in January 2010 had renamed itself Front Favur Dom Mintoff. The biography, Duminku Mintoff u Malta fiż-żmienu, will be published, together with a collection of more than fifty political meetings which Mintoff held between 1950 and 2004. However, in a Press Release dated 30th August 2012, both the Labour Party and the family of the late Dom Mintoff declared that they have nothing to do with this unregistered foundation. The Press Release adds that a committee chaired by Dr. Toni Abela has been set-up to oversee official memoirs related to the late Mr.Mintoff.
