Direct Line is well known in the UK for its distinctive logo - a red telephone on wheels - which is used extensively in its marketing. Over 1993-1994, adverts featured a large real-made model the Direct Line telephone appearing in situations to the original Direct Line jingle. The first advert in the series showed the telephone come out of a man's garage and jumping over a ramp. This was followed by various adverts. One in 1994 featured a man's car and house turn into the telephone, with the doorbell of the house being the familiar original Direct Line jingle.
In recent years the phone has been joined by a mouse to reflect online purchasing habits. Between 2009 and 2010, the phone and mouse appeared together in TV campaigns with Stephen Fry providing the voice of the phone and Paul Merton as the mouse.
New commercials were launched in 2011 featuring Chris Addison, Alexander Armstrong, Amelia Bullmore, and various animals.
