  • Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela recognized the Sandinista National Liberation Front as a belligerent in Nicaragua's civil war in June, 1979.
  • France and Mexico recognized the FMLN as a belligerent in the civil war in El Salvador on August 28, 1981.

Famous quotes containing the words types and/or recognition:

As for types like my own, obscurely motivated by the conviction that our existence was worthless if we didn’t make a turning point of it, we were assigned to the humanities, to poetry, philosophy, painting—the nursery games of humankind, which had to be left behind when the age of science began. Saul Bellow (b. 1915)

The recognition of Russia on November 16, 1933, started forces which were to have considerable influence in the attempt to collectivize the United States.
    Herbert Hoover (1874–1964)
