Deputy Commissioner - Australia

Australia

In all Australian police forces, deputy commissioner is the rank directly below that of commissioner and senior to the rank of assistant commissioner except in the New South Wales Police Force, where it is senior to the rank of senior assistant commissioner. In all forces, excepting the New South Wales Police Force where the insignia is crossed and wreathed tipstaves surmounted by a crown, the same insignia as that of a lieutenant-general in the army, the insignia is a diamond (or a star, in the case of the Victoria Police), the same as that of a major-general in the army.

Famous quotes containing the word australia:

It is very considerably smaller than Australia and British Somaliland put together. As things stand at present there is nothing much the Texans can do about this, and ... they are inclined to shy away from the subject in ordinary conversation, muttering defensively about the size of oranges.
Alex Atkinson, British humor writer. repr. In Present Laughter, ed. Alan Coren (1982)

I like Australia less and less. The hateful newness, the democratic conceit, every man a little pope of perfection.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)
