“Youve spent too much time with the stars. You dont know anything about living, the law of the jungle, the human jungle. I do, Ive spent my life at it. You dont know what your civilized people will do to cling to life. I do, because I know Id cling if I had to kill to do it. And so will you.”
—Sydney Boehm (19081990)
“Beware the/easy griefs, that fool and fuel nothing./It is too easy to cry AFRIKA!/and shock thy street,/and purse thy mouth,/and go home to thy Gunsmoke, to/thy Gilligans Island and the NFL.”
—Gwendolyn Brooks (b. 1917)
