Early Life
Bozzio was born in in Medford, Massachusetts. Aspiring to an acting career since childhood, she was admitted to the performing arts program at Emerson College at the age of 16. Instead, she chose to work as a Bunny at the Playboy Club in Boston.
She was named Boston Playboy Club Bunny of the Year in 1975.
In 1976, Bozzio traveled to Playboy Mansion West in Los Angeles at the request of Hugh Hefner, to interview for the position of Valentine party hostess. The opportunity would provide for both a continuing relationship with Playboy and for living arrangements in L.A., from which she could pursue an acting career.
Bozzio did not accept Hefner's offer, and she did not secure living arrangements. However, shortly thereafter, she chanced upon musician and composer Frank Zappa, whom she had met previously at one of his concerts in Boston. That encounter led to her employment with Zappa.

“Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a mans training begins, its probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.”
—Thomas Henry Huxley (182595)
“The novels are as useful as Bibles, if they teach you the secret, that the best of life is conversation, and the greatest success is confidence, or perfect understanding between sincere people.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
