On September 1, 2011, Cyprus Airways announced they would be returning both their A330 aircraft to the lessor in December 2011 and January 2012 consecutively to reduce losses. Cyprus Airways leased 2 A321 in the summer of 2012 from ILFC in a swap deal for the 2 A330's that they returned early. Cyprus Airways also sold 2 A319 in the summer of 2012.
