The study span and the annual number of intakes of the undergraduate degree programs provided by the four schools of the faculty are different.
Currently, the majority of the intakes is offered for students who are selected based on their strength in the local university entrance examination (HKDSE or previously HKALE) — the JUPUS students, and the remaining ones are provided for students who take oversea examinations, such as GCE — the non-JUPUS students. For example, the MBChB (medicine) program offers 210 seats annually, 160 of which are for JUPUS students and the remaining 50 are for the non-JUPUS. The duration of studies of all the programs for students under the new secondary school education syllabus (HKDSE syllabus) is equal to or above 4 years, one year more than that for the former students who received the old syllabus of secondary education (HKALE syllabus). Non-JUPUS students will be assessed by the schools to decide their stream.
It is one of the only two tertiary institutions in Hong Kong which provide medical and pharmacy programs and is the sole one that has the public health undergraduate program. The competition is therefore fierce due to the limited numbers of intakes and a good examination performance is required, especially for medicine and pharmacy. Moreover, interviews are necessary.
Medical students will be awarded the MB,ChB which is equivalent to the MBBS awarded by the other medical school in the territory, similar to the model of UK. Other graduates will also be conferred with the corresponding Bachelor's degrees.
Moreover, the schools also provide different postgraduate programs, including those of Master degrees and Doctoral degrees (PhD).

Famous quotes containing the words programs and and/or programs:
“Whether in the field of health, education or welfare, I have put my emphasis on preventive rather than curative programs and tried to influence our elaborate, costly and ill- co-ordinated welfare organizations in that direction. Unfortunately the momentum of social work is still directed toward compensating the victims of our society for its injustices rather than eliminating those injustices.”
—Agnes E. Meyer (18871970)
“Although good early childhood programs can benefit all children, they are not a quick fix for all of societys illsfrom crime in the streets to adolescent pregnancy, from school failure to unemployment. We must emphasize that good quality early childhood programs can help change the social and educational outcomes for many children, but they are not a panacea; they cannot ameliorate the effects of all harmful social and psychological environments.”
—Barbara Bowman (20th century)
