Standards
Several CSPRNGs have been standardized. For example,
- FIPS 186-2
- NIST SP 800-90A: Hash_DRBG, HMAC_DRBG, CTR_DRBG and Dual EC DRBG.
- ANSI X9.17-1985 Appendix C
- ANSI X9.31-1998 Appendix A.2.4
- ANSI X9.62-1998 Annex A.4, obsoleted by ANSI X9.62-2005, Annex D (HMAC_DRBG)
A good reference is maintained by NIST.
There are also standards for statistical testing of new CSPRNG designs:
- A Statistical Test Suite for Random and Pseudorandom Number Generators, NIST Special Publication 800-22.

Famous quotes containing the word standards:
“Our ego ideal is precious to us because it repairs a loss of our earlier childhood, the loss of our image of self as perfect and whole, the loss of a major portion of our infantile, limitless, aint-I-wonderful narcissism which we had to give up in the face of compelling reality. Modified and reshaped into ethical goals and moral standards and a vision of what at our finest we might be, our dream of perfection lives onour lost narcissism lives onin our ego ideal.”
—Judith Viorst (20th century)
“To arrive at a just estimate of a renowned mans character one must judge it by the standards of his time, not ours.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
“The technologist was the final guise of the white missionary, industrialization the last gospel of a dying race and living standards a substitute for a purpose in living.”
—Max Frisch (19111991)
