  • Croatian Home Guard (Independent State of Croatia) (1941–1944), regular army of the Independent State of Croatia
  • Home Guard (1991–2003), reserve force of the Croatian Army

Famous quotes containing the words home and/or guard:

But the creative person is subject to a different, higher law than mere national law. Whoever has to create a work, whoever has to bring about a discovery or deed which will further the cause of all of humanity, no longer has his home in his native land but rather in his work.
    Stefan Zweig (18811942)

Let us guard against saying that there are laws in nature. There are merely necessities: there is no one who commands, no one who obeys, no one who transgresses. Once you understand that there are no purposes, then you also understand that nothing is accidental: for it is only in a world of purposes that the word “accident” makes sense.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
