Cow dung, also known as cow pat, is the waste product of bovine animal species. These species include domestic cattle ("cows"), bison ("buffalo"), yak and water buffalo. Cow dung is the undigested residue of plant matter which has passed through the animal's gut. The resultant faecal matter is rich in minerals. Colour ranges from greenish to blackish, often darkening soon after exposure to air. It is also known in the American southeast and west as "cow pies".
Famous quotes containing the word dung:
“I sat by an eminent Storyteller and Politician who takes half an Ounce in five Seconds, and has mortgaged a pretty Tenement near the Town, meerly [sic] to improve and dung his Brains with this prolifick Powder.”
—Richard Steele (16721729)
