Construction Surveying

Construction surveying (otherwise known as "lay-out" or "setting-out") is to stake out reference points and markers that will guide the construction of new structures such as roads or buildings. Famous quotes containing the words construction and/or surveying:

    There’s no art
To find the mind’s construction in the face.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

As for my own business, even that kind of surveying which I could do with most satisfaction my employers do not want. They would prefer that I should do my work coarsely and not too well, ay, not well enough. When I observe that there are different ways of surveying, my employer commonly asks which will give him the most land, not which is most correct.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
