World War II & RAF Career

In 1940 Tapley returned to Britain and to help the war effort but found that he could not find transport direct from the United States due to war restrictions and so enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He found employment as a flight instructor due to his past experience in the Royal Air Force and was later transferred to Britain as a flight controller. Famous quotes containing the words world, war and/or career:

The world is a beautiful book, but of little use to him who cannot read it.
    Carlo Goldoni (1707–1793)

    Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. (b. 1922)

They want to play at being mothers. So let them. Expressing tenderness in their own way will not prevent girls from enjoying a successful career in the future; indeed, the ability to nurture is as valuable a skill in the workplace as the ability to lead.
    Anne Roiphe (20th century)
