Clearance Diving Team

A Clearance Diving Team is a type of naval diving group. See:-

  • Clearance Diving Team (RAN) for Australian naval divers.
  • Clearance Diver for British naval work divers.
  • Frogman for naval divers in general.

They are so called because their first job was clearing mines and wreckage from harbors after World War II.

Famous quotes containing the words diving and/or team:

A worm is as good a traveler as a grasshopper or a cricket, and a much wiser settler. With all their activity these do not hop away from drought nor forward to summer. We do not avoid evil by fleeing before it, but by rising above or diving below its plane; as the worm escapes drought and frost by boring a few inches deeper.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night.”
    Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863)
