Additional ECHL History

The Louisville River Frogs were a professional ice hockey team competing in the East Coast Hockey League. The team was based in Louisville, Kentucky and played from 1995-1998. Their home venue was Broadbent Arena (nicknamed "The Swamp" for their duration) at the Kentucky Exposition Center. At the conclusion of the 1997-1998 season, the franchise was sold and moved to Florida to become the Miami Matadors for year before moving to Ohio as the Cincinnati Cyclones in 2001.

The team's mascot was Rowdy River Frog. The River Frogs games were locally known for the amount of non-hockey-related entertainment at shows, including a giant frog blimp, hot tubs, and concession booths.

Famous quotes containing the words additional and/or history:

Dog. A kind of additional or subsidiary Deity designed to catch the overflow and surplus of the world’s worship.
    Ambrose Bierce (1842–1914)

The foregoing generations beheld God and nature face to face; we, through their eyes. Why should not we also enjoy an original relation to the universe? Why should not we have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs?
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
