Channel Performance Measures
These are examples of commonly used channel capacity and performance measures:
- Spectral bandwidth in Hertz
- Symbol rate in baud, pulses/s or symbols/s
- Digital bandwidth bit/s measures: gross bit rate (signalling rate), net bit rate (information rate), channel capacity, and maximum throughput
- Channel utilization
- Link spectral efficiency
- Signal-to-noise ratio measures: signal-to-interference ratio, Eb/No, carrier-to-interference ratio in decibel
- Bit-error rate (BER), packet-error rate (PER)
- Latency in seconds: propagation time, transmission time
- Delay jitter

Famous quotes containing the words channel, performance and/or measures:
“This is what the Church is said to want, not party men, but sensible, temperate, sober, well-judging persons, to guide it through the channel of no-meaning, between the Scylla and Charybdis of Aye and No.”
—Cardinal John Henry Newman (18011890)
“O world, world! thus is the poor agent despised. O traitors and bawds, how earnestly are you set a-work, and how ill requited! Why should our endeavour be so loved, and the performance so loathed?”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“One encounters very capable fathers abashed by their piano-playing daughters. Three measures of Schumann make them red with embarrassment.”
—Alfred Döblin (18781957)
