Change Control - The Process

The Process

There is considerable overlap and confusion between change management, configuration management and change control. The definition below is not yet integrated with definitions of the others.

Certain experts describe change control as a set of six steps:

  1. Record / Classify
  2. Assess
  3. Plan
  4. Build / Test
  5. Implement
  6. Close / Gain Acceptance

Famous quotes containing the word process:

We are in the process of creating what deserves to be called the idiot culture. Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface and which can provide harmless fun; but the culture itself. For the first time, the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming our cultural norm, even our cultural ideal.
    Carl Bernstein (b. 1944)

The invention of photography provided a radically new picture-making process—a process based not on synthesis but on selection. The difference was a basic one. Paintings were made—constructed from a storehouse of traditional schemes and skills and attitudes—but photographs, as the man on the street put, were taken.
    Jean Szarkowski (b. 1925)
