Castle Technology Limited, named after Framlingham Castle, is a British computer company based in Cambridge, England. It began as a producer of ARM computers and manufactured the Acorn-branded range of desktop computers that run RISC OS.
Following the break-up of Acorn in 1998, Castle Technology bought the rights to continue production of the RISC PC and A7000+ computers under the Acorn brand. Castle Technology laster bought the rights to RISC OS from Pace and released the Iyonix PC, the first desktop computer to use the Intel XScale microarchitecture. Castle Technology and RISCOS subsequently agreed to merge RISC OS 4 and RISC OS 5 together.
Famous quotes containing the words castle and/or technology:
“The splendor falls on castle walls
And snowy summits old in story;
The long light shakes across the lakes,
And the wild cataract leaps in glory.
Blow, bugle, blow, set the wild echoes flying,
Blow, bugle; answer, echoes, dying, dying, dying.”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
“Our technology forces us to live mythically, but we continue to think fragmentarily, and on single, separate planes.”
—Marshall McLuhan (19111980)
