Casimir II The Just - Life

Life

Casimir, the sixth but fourth surviving son of Bolesław III Wrymouth, Duke of Poland, by his second wife Salomea, daughter of Count Henry of Berg, was born in 1138, probablyly on the brink of his father's death. It is however also possible that he was born shortly after, and in consequence was posthumous. Maybe this was the reason that in the Bolesław III's Testament, he was omitted and left without any land.

Famous quotes containing the word life:

The Constitution of the United States is not a mere lawyers’ document. It is a vehicle of life, and its spirit is always the spirit of the age. Its prescriptions are clear and we know what they are ... but life is always your last and most authoritative critic.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

The dialectic between change and continuity is a painful but deeply instructive one, in personal life as in the life of a people. To “see the light” too often has meant rejecting the treasures found in darkness.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

The best thing in life is doing things people say you can’t do.
    Jennifer Moore (b. 1972)
