In April 2006, Trevor Carlin confirmed that the team had applied for a place in the Formula One World Championship from the 2008 season, although this was later rejected, in favour of the Prodrive application. They were linked with applying again in 2011, but the team denied this insisting it was concentrating on success in the junior formulas.
