Cardiff Blues - Home Ground

Home Ground

The Blues home ground is the Cardiff Arms Park from the 2012/13 season on. They may play some games at the Cardiff City Stadium when demand exceeds capacity at the Arms Park. For 3 years from 2009/10 they played almost all of their home games at the Cardiff City Stadium, but declining demand and supported dissatisfaction led to them playing a number of home games at the Arms park in the 2011/12 season, which proved a great success. Cardiff Blues first returned to the Arms Park on 10 February 2012 for the Pro12 match against Connacht. A maximum capacity crowd of 8,000, achieved despite short notice and for one of the least glamorous fixtures. A week later they again sold out for a home game against Ulster

From the beginning of the 09–10 season Cardiff Blues moved to the new Cardiff City Stadium at Leckwith. The Blues were tennants at this stadium to Cardiff City F.C.. The first Cardiff Blues home game at the new stadium was a friendly to Leicester RFC which they lost 5–14, the attendance was 16,000 It was announced the 20 year lease between Cardiff City F.C. and the Blues had been broken by mutual consent on the 8th May 2012.

Famous quotes containing the words home and/or ground:

I fairly confess that, acting as nature and simplicity dictated, no sooner did I see the once loved bosom of my Ferdinand free from those deformed demons which had crept in and filled up the vacant space, than beholding my natural home once more the seat of innocence and truth, my heart joyfully danced into its delightful abode.
    Sarah Fielding (1710–1768)

My ground is the Bible. Yea, I am a Bible-bigot. I follow it in all things, both great and small.
    John Wesley (1703–1791)
