A Tragic Accident
On December 4, 1996, three people died in a fire in the state of Delaware. Police arrested New Castle resident Mark Kirk (age 35) and charged him with murder. He was found guilty of starting a deadly fire by pouring Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum over an electric burner. Despite repeated requests from Kirk's defense team, the company has never denied that its product is flammable, and it should be used with care. The Network for Innocent Arson Defendants has plans to file a claim with the Food and Drug Administration to have the company properly label its product as "flammable."
