Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley Version

Elvis Presley Version

Elvis Presley's version of the song, which topped the British charts in 1962, has appeared in numerous other films, including Coyote Ugly and Walt Disney's Lilo and Stitch. The single is certified by the RIAA as a Platinum record, for US sales in excess of one million copies. In the United States, the Elvis Presley version of the song peaked at number two on the pop chart and went to number one on the Easy Listening chart for six weeks.

During Presley's late sixties and 1970s live performances, the song was performed as the show's finale. Most notably, it was also sung in the live segment of his 1968 NBC television special, and as the closer for his 1973 Global telecast, "Aloha from Hawaii". A version with a faster and sloppier arrangement was used as the closing for Presley's final TV special, "Elvis in Concert."

Famous quotes containing the words elvis, presley and/or version:

Commercial to the core, Elvis was the kind of singer dear to the heart of the music business. For him to sing a song was to sell a song. His G clef was a dollar sign.
    Albert Goldman (b. 1927)

I wish not to be given a title or an appointed position. I can and will do more good if I were made a Federal Agent at Large, and I will help best by doing it my way through my communications with people of all ages. First and Foremost I am an entertainer but all I need is the Federal Credentials.
    —Elvis Presley (1935–1977)

It is never the thing but the version of the thing:
The fragrance of the woman not her self,
Her self in her manner not the solid block,
The day in its color not perpending time,
Time in its weather, our most sovereign lord,
The weather in words and words in sounds of sound.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)
