The Canal through Zuid-Beveland in the southwest Netherlands is the western of the two canals crossing Zuid-Beveland. It connects the Westerschelde and the Oosterschelde.
It is crossed by a railroad bridge (between the stations Kapelle-Biezelinge on the west and Kruiningen-Yerseke on the east), a road tunnel (the Vlake Tunnel) and two road bridges; there are also sluices that can carry road traffic.
Famous quotes containing the word canal:
“My impression about the Panama Canal is that the great revolution it is going to introduce in the trade of the world is in the trade between the east and the west coast of the United States.”
—William Howard Taft (18571930)
