Campaign For Real Ale - Aims

Aims

CAMRA's stated aims are to:

  1. Protect and improve consumer rights.
  2. Promote quality, choice and value for money.
  3. Support the public house as a focus of community life.
  4. Campaign for greater appreciation of traditional beers, ciders and perries as part of our national heritage and culture.
  5. Seek improvements in all licensed premises and throughout the brewing industry.

CAMRA's campaigns include promoting small brewing and pub businesses, reforming licensing laws, reducing tax on beer, and stopping continued consolidation among local British brewers. It also makes an effort to promote less common varieties of beer, including stout, porter, and mild, as well as traditional cider and perry.

Famous quotes containing the word aims:

Our age is pre-eminently the age of sympathy, as the eighteenth century was the age of reason. Our ideal men and women are they, whose sympathies have had the widest culture, whose aims do not end with self, whose philanthropy, though centrifugal, reaches around the globe.
Frances E. Willard 1839–1898, U.S. president of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union 1879-1891, author, activist. The Woman’s Magazine, pp. 137-40 (January 1887)

Nature seems to have treasured up the depth of our mind talents and abilities that we are not aware of; it is the privilege of the passions alone to bring them to light, and to direct us sometimes to surer and more excellent aims than conscious effort could.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)

Since he aims at great souls, he cannot miss. But if someone should slander me in this way, no one would believe him. For envy goes against the powerful. Yet slight men, apart from the great, are but a weak bulwark.
    Sophocles (497–406/5 B.C.)
