The Cabinet Office is the working office of the Government of Mongolia. Article 18.1 of the Law on Government, states that "The Cabinet Office is the working office of the Government, the Cabinet Office shall be headed by a Cabinet member, and the Chief of the Cabinet Office shall report to the Prime Minister”. Furthermore, Article 33 of Mongolian law specified functions of the Cabinet Office, including: (1) development and implementation of Government decisions, (2) coordination of central and local government authorities, (3) government human resource management, (4) and management of common services.
The Cabinet Office is the supporting body for leadership functions of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.
According to Parliament Resolution No. 38, 1996, the Cabinet Office is a body that supports leadership functions of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet. It provides supports to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet in exercising their overall functions of nationwide leadership and strategic management guidance by:
- Setting policy priorities
- Coordinating policy implementation
- Reporting
- Managing human resources
- Executing operational management of the Government
In supporting leadership functions of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, the Cabinet Office is also responsible for:
- Coordination and management of public administration organizations
- Initiate innovation and disseminate it
- Supports to all public administration organizations through its continuous and highly professional operations
